Happy New Year from everyone at 2328 Squadron ATC! We hope you had a very good Christmas and start to the New Year.
December remained a busy month for the Squadron with activities planned right up until Christmas. On Sunday 15th Decemeber, seven of our cadets went to Hullavington Airfield to go shotgun shooting. The cadets enjoyed this activity a lot and are all interested in attending again.
The following day was the penultimate parade night of the year and our Christmas party. We arranged for the cadets to go to JDR Karting in Gloucester for an evening of mini endurance racing; 28 cadets from 2328 attended, as well as one from 125 (Cheltenham) Sqn. The cadets were split into three races and each got about 40 minutes on the track. The three races were won by Cdt Wilcox D, Cdt Miller and CI Griffith. The cadets were very competitive and had a great time. Special thanks go to JDR Karting for giving us a generous discount as well as the Squadron’s Civilian Committee who agreed to pay towards the activity.
Thursday 19th December was our final parade night of 2013 so a small party was organised for the evening with music and food provided by the cadets. This gave the cadets the opportunity to relax after a very busy year. The hard work has evidently been worth it though as we have one of the strongest attendances on Squadron records.
We had six cadets help 125 Squadron do a bag pack at the Oakley Sainsburys in Cheltenham on Saturday 21st December. A number of cadets then returned on Monday 21st December to finish off the training for their Leading classification. By passing the exams, they are now able to work towards obtaining their Senior classification. It also means they are now eligible to be promoted.
The first parade of the New Year is Monday 6th January.
